In a continued crackdown on insurgent activities, troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) under Sector 3, Monguno, have successfully neutralized 15 more ISWAP terrorists during ongoing clearance operations in Kukawa, Borno State.
In a statement, Chief Military Information Officer, HQ MNJTF N’Djamena, Chad Lieut. Col. Olaniyi Osoba said the joint effort, supported by air components and hybrid forces, intercepted and neutralized several fleeing wounded insurgents.
Among the eliminated terrorists, one was captured alive, while a significant cache of weapons was seized.
He said the air component effectively targeted regrouping terrorists on motorcycles in Guzamala, disrupting their movements. In the subsequent ground operation, troops destroyed three additional Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs), increasing the total number of VBIEDs neutralized to seven.
Seized weapons include 7 AK-47 rifles, 1 Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) bomb and tube, 2 Anti-Aircraft guns and 152 Shilka rounds of ammunition
Osoba emphasized that the ongoing clearance operations represent a critical step toward restoring peace and security in the region, significantly weakening ISWAP’s operational capabilities.
The MNJTF reiterated its commitment to eradicating terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of local communities in the Lake Chad Basin.
