The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has celebrated the successful completion of Operation LAKE SANITY 2 (OPLS 2) with a medal presentation ceremony at its headquarters in Farcha, N’Djamena Chad.
According to Chief Military Information Officer, HQ MNJTF, N’Djamena, Chad Lieut. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, the event, honouring the bravery and sacrifices of the troops, was attended by Issaka Maluoa Djamous, Chad’s Minister of Armed Forces, Veteran, and War Victims, who served as the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH).
In his address, the Minister commended the exceptional heroism and dedication of the troops, noting that the success of OPLS 2 was a testament to their resolve and sacrifices.
He highlighted the critical role of collaboration between MNJTF and national forces in fostering regional peace and stability, paying tribute to fallen soldiers and affirming that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.
Force Commander Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali detailed the achievements of OPLS 2, which included the repatriation of over 30,000 displaced persons, dismantling terrorist logistics bases, neutralizing over 310 terrorists, and the surrender of more than 800 terrorists and their families.
He expressed gratitude for the support from the Lake Chad Basin Commission and recognized the contributions of former force commanders in previous operations.
The ceremony, attended by top military officials, government functionaries, and diplomats, featured the decoration of commanders and troops, as well as the commissioning of the newly remodeled MNJTF Photo Stand.
Families of wounded or fallen soldiers received tokens of gratitude, underscoring MNJTF’s respect and appreciation for their sacrifices.
