Prominent stakeholders in Bayelsa State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) have voiced their concerns against what they perceived as disregard for committed and devoted party members when it comes to appointments and nominations for key roles within the administration led by President Ahmed Tinubu.

The group of stakeholders operates under the banner of the “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Movement 2023,” encompassing members of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) and various other coalitions of support entities.

They had expressed dissatisfaction with recent occurrences within the party that resulted in the selection of a ministerial nominee from Bayelsa State.

In a formal letter of protest, signed by the coordinator, Mr. Ebitimi Jones, and the Secretary, Comrade Livingston Amaebi, the gtpup outlined their stance that foremost opportunities for appointments should have been extended to individuals who dedicated tireless efforts to the party’s journey, spanning from its initial stages to the general election. This sentiment stands in contrast to those who covertly worked against the party’s interests.

The letter said, “Your Excellency, we are writing to you with mixed emotions to address recent developments within the party’s state-level affairs. While we wish to extend our congratulations to you and our party for triumphing in the general election and for your successful assumption of the role of President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, we are, however, compelled to express our discontent regarding the intentions of certain ambitious politicians who seek to replace most of your loyalists with adversaries of the party within your appointments.”

The letter underscored the belief that while the authority to appoint and dismiss rests with the President and Commander-in-Chief, individuals who collaborated with the President from the very outset should rightfully be the foremost beneficiaries of pivotal appointments.

“This approach aims to preempt any occurrences that might incite unrest among stakeholders, especially as the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state looms on the horizon.

“The stakeholders advocate for an introspective selection process that prioritizes individuals capable of safeguarding the party’s interests and amplifying the President’s progressive policies. They emphasize that appointments should be grounded in meritocracy, ensuring broad representation and the dissemination of democratic dividends throughout the state and the entire nation.

“An exemplar of a party loyalist, Ebitimi Amgbare, has consistently demonstrated an innate penchant for taking calculated risks, recognizing and seizing opportunities, fostering unity among stakeholders, defining clear objectives with a serene disposition, and realizing goals, all while maintaining popular support.”

In their communication to His Excellency, the group implores the appointment of individuals characterized by integrity, much like Ebitimi Amgbare, with the aspiration that in acknowledgment of their advocacy for the President’s progressive message and unwavering loyalty to Asiwaju, Bayelsa State and the APC can advance toward greater prosperity and progress.
