One Mr Mayowa Komolafe, 39, was on Thursday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan over an alleged N5 million land fraud.
Komolafe, whose address was not provided, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in September, 2022, at OkeGbodo village, Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant obtained the N5 million from one Philip Adewale under the false pretext of purchasing one plot of land for him.
Adegbenro alleged that the defendant failed to do so and rather converted the money to his personal use.
He said the offences contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 21, for mention.
