A 38-year old man, Nurudeen Hammed, was on Friday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over an alleged N8.2 million fraud.

Hammed, whose address was not provided, is being charged with conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Olarotimi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences at about 11.09a.m on June 18, at Ido, Oyo State.
Olarotimi alleged that the defendant and others now at large fraudulently obtained the sum of N8.2 million from the complainant, Adekunle Ridwan.
He said that Hammed obtained the money with the pretext of supplying 900 bags of cement to Ridwan, saying, “he refused to supply the cement, but converted the money to his personal use.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 516, 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million, with two sureties in like sum.
She held that one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant, and adjourned the case until Aug. 28, for hearing.
