Speaking shortly before the handing over, Abdullahi Bego highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture on his watch.

“The ministry, under the present administration, has undergone tremendous transformation. The ministry has now moved from an analogue baseline to the digital spaces of modern information and communication technology for the effective collection and dissemination of information, news and entertainment across the state and the country,” Bego said.

Bego expressed hope that the new commissioner would continue to develop the ministry at this challenging time being an experienced leader who had headed various ministries in the state including the information one.

He appreciated the cooperation accorded him by the entire staff members of the ministry as well as its agencies; Yobe Printing Press, Yobe Broadcasting Corporation (YBC), Yobe State Television (YTV) and Yobe State Council for Art and Culture, calling on them to sustain this as they continued to work with his successor.

He said: “It is your determination, dedication and professionalism that propelled the ministry to where it is today.
I encourage you to even give more support and show more commitment so that the incoming commissioner can achieve more.”

Lamin, while taking over the affairs of the Information Ministry, commended his predecessor for performing up to the mark and assuring all that he was going to move the ministry to greater heights, calling on the staff members in the ministry to give him the desired cooperation in this regard.

He also commended Governor Mai Mala-Buni for finding him worthy of heading the Ministry, though not new to him, assuring him that he would continue from where the outgoing commissioner had stopped.

He said: “The task before us is very enormous but surmountable. We can achieve a lot… I believe, we will be up to the task and will keep the flag flying as my colleague has requested.”
