Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde has told PDP aspirants to hold off buying nomination forms, as allies say his exit from the party is “concluded.”
The report, by _The PUNCH_, follows Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed’s defection to APM.
He blamed a Supreme Court ruling for leaving the PDP without “clear legal and organisational direction.”
A South-West PDP leader and Makinde ally said: “I am aware the governor will leave the PDP any moment from now, but I don’t know the party he is going to yet.”
A cabinet member confirmed Makinde is “prepared to leave” and “considering options,” adding: “It will not be too late for the people of Oyo and our aspirants.”
An official in the Governor’s Office was more direct: “The governor has directed all the aspirants in the PDP not to obtain forms under the PDP. Our next destination is most likely NDC or APM. Everything will be settled next week.”
The official said Makinde and PDP leaders have already screened all aspirants except those in Oyo South.

Makinde’s Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, pushed back Sunday, dismissing the speculations and saying the governor “had not mentioned any defection plan.”
The back-and-forth deepens uncertainty in Oyo PDP ranks as 2027 realignments heat up. NDC and APM are both positioning as third-force platforms ahead of 2027.
Bala Mohammed’s exit to APM and reports linking Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to NDC have fueled talk of a major shake-up.
