Lookman lands in Madrid to complete transfer

Atalanta winger, Ademola Lookman, has arrived in Spain ahead of his proposed move to Atletico Madrid.
The two clubs have already reached an agreement over a deal for the 28-year-old.

Lookman has subsequently been given permission to fly to Madrid to complete the transfer.

“(The clubs) have agreed to the transfer of 28-year-old Nigerian international Ademola Lookman, who is already in Madrid,” a statement read.

“The agreement is pending a medical examination and the signing of his contract.”

Lookman is expected to cost Atletico around 40 million euros.

He scored three goals in 19 matches across all competitions this season for Atalanta.

Meanwhile, Lookman has expressed excitement over his imminent move to Atletico Madrid, after arriving in Madrid to complete a deadline-day transfer from Atalanta.

The 28-year-old Nigerian international touched down in the Spanish capital on Monday following a full agreement between both clubs, with the deal now pending a medical examination and final contract formalities.

Reacting to the move, Lookman said he was eager to begin a new chapter in Spain.

“I am very happy to be here (in Spain) and ready to begin a new life with my new team,” he said.

Atletico Madrid confirmed that all major terms of the transfer have been settled with Atalanta, noting that the agreement is subject to medical clearance and completion of documentation.

According to a statement from the La Liga club, the transfer of the Nigerian attacker has been agreed, with Lookman already in Madrid ahead of Monday’s medical.
