Revd Fr Hyacinth Alia has been declared Governor-elect of Benue State thus opening up a surefooted path to Benue State liberation, which was the centrepiece of his electioneering.
He won the poll, emphatically dismissing his closest rival and incumbent Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Titus Uba.
The Catholic priest was declared winner of the election on Monday.
According to INEC, Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 473,933 votes to defeat his closest rival and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Titus Uba, who got 223,913 votes.
Over 250,000 votes separated Alia from Uba in the aftermath of the March 18 poll.
