- Urges state to aim for number one spot next year
A leading pro-Democracy group in Kwara State, Kwara Must Change, has stated that the recently released transparency rating by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Integrity Watch (CECFTIW) is a recognition of the efforts of Kwara State government in ensuring transparency in the state’s governance processes.
However, Kwara Must Change said that, from the third position the state currently occupies, the state should aim for number one slot in the coming year by standardizing the processes it has initiated.
The statement was made by Convener of Kwara Must Change, AbdulRazaq Hamzat while reacting to the rating of CECFTIW in which Kwara was rated third most transparent state across the federation, only behind Kaduna and Ekiti states.
According to Hamzat: “The present administration in the state is doing its best to be transparent in all fronts including the budgetary process, aswell as procurement and it is our duty to support and encourage the government to continue in this direction.”
Hamzat maintained that,
“with Kwara state rating of 65:00 score, which occupies the third position below Ekiti (73.33) and Kaduna (76.67), the state is actually on the right track and all it needs to do is to standardize the processes and make government data more readily accessible online.”
While urging government to integrate all MDA activities in its online platforms, Hamzat enjoined the state to continue to improve by aiming for the number one spot on transparency in the coming year.
