Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has said his daughter encouraged him to join forces with Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on ARISE News Monday, Kwankwaso said the suggestion reflected a shift among younger Nigerians toward prioritizing competence and governance over ethnic and religious considerations.

“Even in the 2023 election, in my own house, my own daughter was telling me to go and work with Peter Obi,” he said.

Kwankwaso argued that many older politicians have lost touch with young voters, who are increasingly shaping elections through social media and other platforms. He said the current generation is demanding leaders focused on solving Nigeria’s problems rather than appealing to identity politics.

“People are talking of religion. Some people are talking of ethnicity, but the younger people are looking for the right leadership for this country. And I think they are absolutely right,” he said.
