A renewed call for a balanced power shift arrangement has exposed deep-seated cracks in the political structure of the current government in Kogi State.
The agitation, championed by well-meaning citizens and supported by some political appointees, is gaining momentum as the 2027 elections approach.
According to The Voice of Reason Group, a strategic political realignment is underway to effect a change in the state’s governorship, with the west zone making a strong case for its turn to hold the office.
The Group notes that the current power grab by some selfish politicians is unsustainable and that the season for Kogi West to produce the next Governor is imminent.
The Group warned those playing “god” to be wary, emphasising that God is in charge of everything and will not share His glory with anyone.
They urged those who want to remain in power forever to have a rethink, stressing that the people of Kogi are yearning for change and are desirous to get it right by ensuring the Western part of the state gets its fair share of the governorship.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, it remains to be seen how the current administration will respond to the growing demand for power shift.
However, one thing is certain – the people of Kogi West are determined to have their say in the state’s governance, and their voices will not be easily silenced.
The Voice of Reason Group’s statement is a clarion call to all stakeholders to embrace a more inclusive and equitable approach to governance, lest the state is plunged into avoidable conflicts and instability.
