A businessman in Ugbe, Akoko Northeast local government area of Ondo State, Mr Augustine Okoye, has been killed by his abductors after payment of ransom.
Okoye was reportedly kidnapped with his wife on the Isua-Ise Akoko highway.
Reports said the kidnappers killed the man after collecting money from the family and freed the wife.
Another source said the husband was killed before the ransom was paid.
A police source in Ikare Akoko confirmed the incident and said the victim’s vehicle had been recovered from the scene of the incident.
The police source said men of the Ondo Amotekun corps and local vigilante groups were combing the forest to recover the dead body and arrest the suspects.
Ondo police spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, could not be reached for comments.
