The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, said the late Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (retd), was an officer who contributed to the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Nigerian Air Force from inception.
The Director, Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Cdr. Wap Maigida, in a statement on Sunday, said the remains of the late war veteran had been laid to rest in Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Amao announced that the late Air Commodore, who was buried at his ancestral home in Guyuk, on Friday, was a man of valour, integrity, and achiever who would be missed by the NAF.
He said the service was proud and honoured for having the late statesman as one of its pioneer officers, assuring that his legacies would continue to be implemented in the Air force.
The air chief said that the late Suleiman’s contributions to the development of the NAF would remain a focal point of reference as far as the history of the Force was concerned.
“As a seasoned fighter pilot, military strategic leader, Dan Suleiman had contributed immensely to the solid foundation for the development of air power in the NAF,” he said.
“The contributions of the late veteran to the service in fulfilment of Nigeria’s national security imperatives were enduring and would be remembered,” he added.
He, however, sympathised with the family of the late officer, saying that the late retired senior officer displayed admirable wisdom, diligence, and dedication to the service of humanity.
“For this reason, we are celebrating the selfless service, quality life, and glorious exit of our amiable officer,” he added.
He reassured the officers and men of the Nigerian Air Force that his continuous support, particularly in such trying times while calling on them to continue to exude loyalty and dedication to service.
The late Air Commodore Dan Suleiman died on Feb. 1 at the age of 80.
