The Kano State Government says it is exploring partnership with a reputable private firm to rehabilitate, modernise and manage the state library under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement for the benefit of the public.
The Special Adviser to Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf on Information, Ibrahim Adam, disclosed this in a statement in Kano on Saturday.
Adam said that the attention of the government had been drawn to the concerns raised by members of the public regarding the condition of the state library.
According to him, the planned partnership is aimed at restoring the library to standard and equipping it with modern facilities for the benefit of the public.
“The government is actively working to partner with reputable private sector companies under a PPP arrangement to rehabilitate, modernise and sustainably manage the library for public benefit,” he said.
Adam noted that the arrangement would provide a sustainable management structure capable of improving the quality of services at the facility.
He explained that the initiative would also ensure that the library remained accessible to students, researchers and other users without unnecessary delay.
Adam added that the welfare of educational and cultural institutions remained a major priority of the administration of Gov. Abba Kabir-Yusuf.
