Celebrity businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, says he did not take part in the All Progressives Congress primaries for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State and voluntarily stepped down after consultations with Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Okechukwu made the clarification in Instagram posts on Sunday, stating he was not present at the primary venue. His comments contradict an earlier viral video in which he lamented his experience in the contest, claiming he received only 14 votes.
He said Uzodimma explained that the seat was not yet zoned to his local government area and that Orlu LGA was expected to complete its agreed political rotation. The governor, he added, referenced existing party arrangements and past representation from the area.
“I made my intentions clear that my interest was driven by concerns about representation, but I respected the party’s position,” Okechukwu said. “In respect for the party leadership, I did not proceed to the field. I never participated in the primaries.”
He dismissed online claims of financial disputes tied to his ambition, describing them as “misleading propaganda.”
Okechukwu said he returned to Lagos after withdrawing and reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of 2027 through his City Boy Movement.
