The Kogi State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of three suspects for the tragic death of the teacher at Brains Minds Nursery and Primary School, Ugbamaka, Olamaboro LGA.

According to Police PRO, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, the ordeal began on June 17, 2026.
1. First attack: Abdullahi Isiaka allegedly assaulted Mariam at her residence over disciplinary measures she took against his 11-year-old son during school hours.
2. Second attack: Later that same day, Ramatu Isiaka Eleojo allegedly attacked her again while she was on her way to a mosque for prayers.
3. Third attack: On June 18, Ojonojima Mary, said to be Ramatu’s younger sister, allegedly stormed the school premises in Ugbamaka and assaulted the teacher at her workplace.
Mariam was first treated at Grace Clinic, Ugbamaka, then referred to Eleojo Clinic, Okpo. She died on June 25, 2026 from injuries sustained in the attacks.

The Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, has concluded investigations.
Police said a prima facie case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide has been established against the three suspects: Ojonojima Mary, Ramatu Isiaka Eleojo, and Abdullahi Isiaka.
“They will be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction to face prosecution,” ASP Afusat stated.

CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, commended the detectives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to justice for victims of violent crimes.
He urged residents to shun self-help and seek lawful means of resolving disputes, and called on the public to keep providing timely information to aid policing across the state.
