Justice Crack has recounted his detention experience, saying officials of the Department of State Services, DSS, treated him professionally while in custody.
In a statement titled “My Experience with the DSS (Part One),” he said he was initially abducted by unidentified men claiming to be DSS operatives but later found not to be affiliated with the agency.
He said he was blindfolded and held for several days before being transferred to a DSS facility, where the blindfold was removed on arrival. An officer reassured him of his safety after noticing he was shaken and traumatised.
According to him, he was given food including tea and bread, taken for medical checks, and later accommodated in a room with other detainees with bedding provided.
He stated that subsequent investigations were conducted calmly and professionally, with no physical assault or intimidation. He added that he received regular meals and basic care, and observed that officials worked through weekends and public holidays.
While commending the agency’s conduct in his case, he said there was room for improvement in the speed of investigations and administrative processes. He noted that the account reflects only his personal experience and not a general assessment of the DSS.
