• Seize arms, eliminate IPOB/ESN militant in Imo
In a series of swift and decisive operations, the Nigerian Army demonstrated its commitment to securing communities and protecting citizens from criminal elements across various regions.
In the Jos South Local Government of Plateau State, troops successfully rescued Mrs. Rosemary Jekpe, who had been kidnapped from her residence in Abuja Layout, Bukuru Low-Cost Housing.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the operation, revealing that Mrs. Jekpe was liberated at Rafinbuna Village in Bassa Local Government Area after engaging the kidnappers in a firefight.
The valiant efforts of the troops led to the recovery of an AK-47 Rifle and 2 Motorbikes from the perpetrators.
Additionally, in a targeted raid on a suspected criminal stronghold at Zamtip Village in Wase Local Government Area, one criminal was apprehended while another chose to evade arrest, resulting in his demise.
The operation yielded significant recoveries including an AK-47 Rifle, ammunition, sim cards, and a Jackknife.
In Zamfara State, prompt response by troops prevented the abduction of three individuals by violent extremists near Kwatarkwashi Village.
Engaging the extremists in a fierce firefight, the troops forced them to abandon their victims, although one sustained injuries and was promptly evacuated for medical attention.
Efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Imo State, troops neutralized an IPOB/ESN militant in Ihiteukwa community, Orsu Local Government Area.
The militants, known for their reign of terror, engaged the troops in a gun battle, resulting in the elimination of one militant and the destruction of their camp.
The army remains vigilant in pursuing the fleeing militants, with a fabricated single barrel gun recovered from the scene.
Major General Nwachukwu reiterated the Nigerian Army’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens.
