Nigerian Army troops executed two distinct operations on Monday, April 1st, 2024, in Zamfara and Katsina States.
The operations were a concerted effort to address the escalating security challenges posed by terrorist elements in the Northwest region.
These operations resulted in the clearance of road blockades erected by terrorists and the neutralization of hostile forces.
In Zamfara State, troops swiftly responded to a distress call concerning a blockade along the Anka-Bagega road, a notorious hotspot for terrorist activities aimed at disrupting civilian movement and facilitating abductions.
Engaging in a proactive fighting patrol, vigilant troops successfully confronted the terrorists, compelling them to abandon their mission and flee.
Recovered from the scene were an AK-47 rifle, 2 AK-47 magazines, 5 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, and a motorbike.
Pursuit operations are ongoing to ensure the complete elimination of the terrorist threat in the area.
Simultaneously, in Katsina State, troops conducted operations to clear insurgents’ camps in the Yar’Malamai and Hamfudin general areas of Faskari Local Government.
In the ensuing engagement, one terrorist was neutralized, and several insurgents’ hideouts were dismantled.
Recovered items included a locally fabricated gun, 2 motorcycles, 6 mobile phones, and various other materials associated with terrorist activities.
