Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, has resigned his appointment as member of the Federal Executive Council.

Onu, according to credible information available to THE CONCLAVE, submitted his letter of resignation to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

Earlier, Buhari had, during the FEC meeting, ordered every member of the Federal Executive Council who had ambition to contest elective offices in 2023 general elections to resign on or before May 16, 2022.

The president said it was only the M inister of State for Education, Hon Emeka Nwajiuba, who had resigned his position to contest for the presidency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

THE CONCLAVE had earlier reported that Nwajiuba actually resigned his appointment in a letter to the President, dated April 28, 2022.

Nwajiuba had on April 27 2022 bought his presidential expression of interest and nomination forms.

Some ministers affected by President Buhari’s marching orders to resign lates May 16, 2022 were Ministers of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio; Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige; Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba; Justice and Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, who have joined the presidential race on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Others were the Minister of State Mines and Steel, Uche Ogar, who is running for governorship position in Abia State, the Minister of Women Affairs, Paulline Tallen, who declared her ambition to contest for the senatorial seat in Plateau State.
