Just In: IGP orders posting/redeployment of senior police officers

In his pursuit of maximizing the impact of community-based and strategic policing on society, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has issued orders for the reassignment of several high-ranking officers.

CP Okon Okon Effiong has been appointed to lead the Department of Finance and Administration ICT at Force Headquarters in Abuja.

CP Zachariah A. Fera, fdc will now oversee the Force Criminal Investigation (FCID) Annexe in Enugu.

CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka has been assigned to the Rivers State Command, while CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah will head the Cross River State Command.

According to CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP had charged the Commissioners of Police with deploying all necessary resources to ensure discipline, professionalism, and orderliness in their new roles.

He said that the senior police officers had also been urged to leverage their extensive experience to enhance existing structural arrangements and establish a policing system that prioritizes citizens’ needs and community-oriented approaches.

The IGP further appealed to the public for their support and cooperation, enabling the newly appointed senior officers to fulfil their duties effectively.

“These reassignments are effective immediately,” he said.
