In a decisive move to bolster the capabilities of the Police Force’s Intelligence Department, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has mandated the deployment of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to assume leadership roles within the Intelligence Department at both Zonal and State Command levels across the nation.
In an official statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the directive reflected the IGP’s commitment to fortify and amplify the efficiency of the Intelligence Department across all echelons of the Force, aligning with his overarching vision to counteract the prevailing crime rate in the country.
It is noteworthy that upon assuming office, the IGP took proactive measures by reactivating the Presidential approval to elevate the Force Intelligence Bureau to the status of a full-fledged Department.
This transformation saw the appointment of DIG Habu Sanni to spearhead the newly established Department of Force Intelligence.
In executing the newly issued directive, the IGP has charged the appointed Senior Officers to leverage all intelligence-based assets in their efforts to combat crimes and criminal activities within their designated areas of responsibility.
Additionally, the IGP emphasized the imperative of infusing professionalism and drawing upon their extensive experience to fortify the existing intelligence architecture of the Force.
Adejobi said the deployment of ACPs is effective immediately, underscoring the urgency attached to the IGP’s strategic initiative.
