In response to the growing concerns on security along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed police officers and security equipment in the highway.

This was made known in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday, January 11, 2024.

Adejobi noted that the IGP, while directing the DIG Operations, DIG Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, on strict supervision of the police officers detailed for operations on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, reiterated that the proactive step aims to reassure citizens and travellers of their safety, “as the increased presence of security forces in the region will act as a deterrent to criminal activities.”

Egbetokun, while emphasising the collaboration between various security agencies and concerned communities in the region, urged the public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and cooperate with security operatives, saying the collective effort is crucial in maintaining the security and well-being of all residents and travellers.
