IGP takes action on alleged assault of NLC president, directs FCID for comprehensive investigation, urges public calm

The Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the alleged assault on the President of the National Labour Congress, Comrade Joe Ajaero.

In an official statement, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, announced that the IGP had directed the Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department to take charge of the matter.

The primary objective is to ascertain the true facts surrounding the incident, addressing any ambiguities arising from conflicting accounts received by the Police.

Recognizing the significance of transparency and accountability in maintaining public trust, the Nigeria Police Force assured the public, especially the organized labor leadership, of a thorough and impartial inquiry.

The IGP personally intervenes to address the issues surrounding the incident and calls for calm among organized labour and the public.

Emphasizing the commitment to a transparent process, the statement assures that the investigation has already commenced and will be pursued to a conclusive end.

Appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings to uphold justice and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.
