IGP pledges support for NAFDAC as DG visits Force Headquarters

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Thursday 4th July 2024, welcomed the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the meeting was part of the ongoing collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and NAFDAC to ensure public safety and health.

Prof. Adeyeye expressed her gratitude for the IGP’s proactive approach to policing and highlighted the essential role of collaboration with the police and other security agencies in effectively regulating food and drug standards and protecting public health in Nigeria.

She sought the support of the NPF for NAFDAC’s operations and other vital activities.

In response, IGP Egbetokun affirmed his support for NAFDAC’s mission to regulate and control the quality of food, drugs, and other consumables in Nigeria.

He pledged the full backing of the NPF to assist NAFDAC in all its operations and assured that all command Commissioners of Police nationwide have been directed to provide robust support to NAFDAC.

To bolster this collaboration, the IGP instructed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of Operations to work closely with the DG of NAFDAC, ensuring necessary assistance and support are provided in all areas of NAFDAC’s operations.

The IGP emphasized the NPF’s commitment to the fight against fake drugs and food, assuring that the police will play an effective role in facilitating NAFDAC’s activities and ensuring compliance with regulations.
