IGP Egbetokun decorates DIGs Bala Ciroma, Frank Mba, 14 AIGs, 22 CPs with new ranks

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, has decorated some newly-promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police.

They were Frank Mba and Bala Ciroma.

The ceremony took place on June 22, 2023, at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters in Abuja.

A number of other newly-promoted Senior Police Officers were also decorated with their well-deserved ranks, amid enthusiastic cheers from their families, friends, and professional colleagues.

These promotions were granted by the Police Service Commission, recognizing the officers’ merit, experience, dedicated service, and academic achievements.

According to CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters in Abuja, a total of 38 Senior Police Officers were decorated during the event.

This distinguished group included Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) Bala Ciroma and Frank Emeka Mba, mni.

Additionally, fourteen Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) were honored, namely Abubakar Lawal, fdc; Alhassan Aminu (Retd.); Abdul Umar, psc, fdc; Williams Adebowale, psc(+), fdc; Shettima Zannah; Ebong Eyibio Ebong, psc, mni; Adepoju Ayinde Ilori; Okon Okon Effiong, fdc; Echeng Eworo Echeng; Susan Ukpanukiema Horsefall; Bankole Lanre Sikiru; Oladimeji Yomi Olanrewaju; Odama Paul Ojeka; and Shehu Sani Gwarzo.

Furthermore, 22 Commissioners of Police were among those recognized.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of notable individuals, including His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State; His Excellency Dr. Akon Etim, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State; Sen. Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President, and other distinguished members of the National Assembly. IGP Usman Alkali Baba (Retd.), Defense Attachés to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, the Force Management Team, serving and retired Senior Police Officers, families of the promoted officers, and various dignitaries were also in attendance.

During his address, the Inspector-General of Police extended his congratulations to the newly promoted officers. He urged them to carry out their duties in accordance with the rule of law and the expectations of the citizens.

They were encouraged to demonstrate exceptional critical thinking, exercise sound professional judgment in their decision-making, and exhibit strong strategic management and operational capabilities, knowing that they would be held accountable for their actions and inactions.
