The organization expressed its concern regarding the ongoing discussions about the ministerial slot for Oyo State, which had been surrounded by various controversies.

While Ibadan Parapo is not a political organization, it is a pressure group that strives for the welfare of the land and its people.

The organization highlighted that Ibadan, as the capital of Oyo State and the entire southwest Nigeria, had not had a ministerial representation from its land for the past eight years.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 147 (3) of the 1999 Constitution, as well as other relevant laws, the organization respectfully urged President Tinubu and Governor Makinde to appoint distinguished individuals who were verified and viable indigenes of Oyo State, specifically from Ibadan.

The group said that Ibadan Parapo believed that such appointments would contribute to the development of the region and align with President Tinubu’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, as stated in his inaugural speech.

Based on its assessment, Ibadan Parapo suggestef that Chief Dr. Azeez Popoola Adeduntan, an accomplished politician from Oyo State, internationally recognized cardiovascular surgeon, and the Osi Basorun of Ibadanland, be considered for the ministerial position.

The organization highlighted Dr. Adeduntan’s remarkable service record and his status as a Nigerian who transcended tribal affiliations.

Ibadan Parapo proudly acknowledged Dr. Adeduntan’s significant contributions to the growth and development of Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.

Iy believed it was now time for him to be duly recognized and rewarded for his achievements.

The organization suggested that this appointment would not only benefit Dr. Adeduntan but also foster a sense of unity and equality among the citizens of Nigeria, in line with the constitutional principles of inclusivity and national unity.

The organization cited several accolades received by Dr. Adeduntan, including being recognized as the “Most Outstanding Commissioner in Governor Ajimobi’s cabinet” by MISS OYO PAGEANT-SILVERSTONE COMMUNICATION on January 2nd, 2017.

The award was later validated by Governor Ajimobi himself on May 30th, 2017, during the flag-off of the Health Insurance Scheme at the Civic Centre in Ibadan.

Additionally, ODUA AFFAIRS NEWS MAGAZINE honoured Dr. Adeduntan as the “Best Commissioner (regardless of portfolio) in the South West region” in their special edition for September/October 2017.

It is worth noting that Dr. Adeduntan was the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Oyo State in 2011.
