● Akpabio replies: “Not true, I’ve no hand in your travail”
Adamawa North Senator, Elisha Abbo, who was sacked by the Court of Appeal, on Monday, October 16, 2023 has pointed the finger at the President of the Senate, Godswil Akpabio, saying he was behind the Court judgment that removed him from office.
However, in a swift riposte, Senator Akpabio denied having a hand whatsoever in the sack of, Senator Abbo,. He dismissed his alleged involvement in the political travail of Senator Abbo as untrue.
Embattled Senator Abbo said four other senators who worked against the emergence of Akpabio as President of the Senate had been marked for removal from the Red Chamber of the National Assembly using the instrumentality of the court.
Abbo told journalists in Abuja while reacting to his sack by the Court of Appeal, that one other senator pencilled down for sack by the Court is Orji Uzor Kalu (APC Abia North) who is most likely to be shown the way out of the Senate through the court like he was so treated.
Read Abbo; “I have it from a reliable source that myself and four other senators within the fold of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be removed from the Senate through rulings from the courts.
“The reason is nothing far from the fact that we worked against the emergence of Akpabio as President of the 10th Senate.
“I won’t mention the names of all the four other ones targeted, but the next in line is Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.”
But, in a swift riposte to the allegation by Senator Abbo, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio said that he had no hands whatsoever in the sack of Abbo by the Court.
Akpabio’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, denied his (Akpabio’s) involvement in Abbo’s ordeal.
“It is unfortunate if he actually said that Akpabio was responsible for his removal. That is the swan song of a man looking for scapegoats.
“The Court of Appeal across the country decides cases based on the provisions of the Electoral Act and evidence advanced by petitioners.
“The Senate President has no reason to witch-hunt any of his colleagues,” he said.
