Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Bashiru, the former spokesperson of the 9th Senate, said that he had always been in the trenches, along with other like minds, in the fight for democracy and rule of law.
Receiving the leadership of the APC National lntegrity Movement ( ANIM), in his office in Abuja, Senator Ajibola said the struggle had been a part of his life since his university days, which led to his rustication from the University of Ilorin.
Senator Bashiru’s positions were contained in a press statement issued by Mr Lanre Asiwaju on behalf of
ANIM Media Office.
Speaking to those who doubt his credentials in his aspiration to fill the vacant position of the APC National Secretaryship, Senator Ajibola opined that “my credentials should speak for me.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the party across board did not just, out of the blues, settle for me as National Secretary of the party. l have a track record of working for the party across the various zones of the country.”
He said: ” l have a PhD in Law, a published author with the intellectual accomplishment and technocracy to deliver in all tasks assigned.”
On complaints by the ANIM leadership about the reward system in the APC, the National Secretary hopeful pledged to take it up if “it is the will of the Almighty Allah that he would be Secretary.
“I will take it up, if it is the will of the Almighty Allah that l would be Secretary. l know and l see ANIM in the trenches everytime in the evolution of the party. The party boasts of seasoned professionals in all fields and we are not going to relent in our efforts that the party is supreme and must recognize and reward hardwork. The nation is going to witness a very robust engagement in terms of building the capacity of our party.”
Contributing to the debate on the issue of technocrats and core politicians in the filling of political positions, Senator Ajibola dismissed it as unnecessary.
According to him, “those who call themselves technocrats as opposed to politicians should come and learn both politics and technocracy from us.
“Our President is a seasoned Accountant. Our Vice President is a seasoned Banker and Administrator with intellectual capacity. So,they should not throw any baggage at us as if because we are politicians, we are not technocrats. We are both politicians and technocrats.”
