The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, said there was a time God abandoned and stopped speaking to him because he was reluctant to interpret for one of the pastors at RCCG.

Speaking at the 70th anniversary of the RCCG at the Redemption City of God in the early hours of Saturday, August 13, 2022, Adeboye said immediately he became born again and started interpreting for the founder of the RCCG, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, other pastors left him to the founder.

Adeboye said at that time, he was hearing from God clearly and God usually told him what to do and what not to do, including a route he should take.

He, however, said he felt on top of the world as probably the most educated in the church at that time and the interpreter to the founder.

The revered clergy who was speaking on the theme “Perfect Jubilee”, said he was enjoying that relationship with God until one day, when one of the pastors said he would interpret for him.

Adeboye said he was so angry with the pastor that if he knew what was going on in his mind when he was interpreting for him, he would have asked him to step aside.

He said: “I was thinking in my mind that who does he thinks he is, me, the interpreter of the General superintendent to be interpreting for him.

“But shortly after the service, God spoke to me that, so you are now too big to interpret for my pastors. And since then I didn’t hear anything from God again.

“I fasted and prayed, and after a while, I made a covenant with God that please restore me now and if I’m going to misbehave tomorrow, take me away today. And that was it. God started speaking to me again and till today, I have been enjoying the relationship with God since then.”
