FAA bulldozes Tabilo 6-3, 7-5, 6-1 at Roland Garros. Maiden Slam title bid stays alive as he sets up Cobolli quarter-final

Felix Auger-Aliassime, FAA, just put his name in Canadian tennis history books.

The world No. 6 stormed into the French Open quarter-finals Monday, crushing Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo 6-3, 7-5, 6-1. With that win, FAA became the first Canadian man ever to reach the last eight at all four Grand Slam tournaments.

The Roland Garros clash started with Auger-Aliassime in total control, snatching the first set with ease. Tabilo, born in Toronto, pushed back in set two and matched the 4th seed game for game until the 11th game broke him.

One break was all FAA needed. He held serve to go 2-0 up, then carried that momentum into the third, racing away before closing it out in convincing fashion.

The performance was even more impressive given his route to week two: a draining 5-set opener + two 4-set battles before this straight-sets masterclass.

–“Next stop: maiden Slam?”–

The victory keeps Auger-Aliassime’s dream of a first major title alive. With confidence high and fitness holding, the Canadian looks primed for a deep run.

Next up: Italy’s Flavio Cobolli, who beat American Zachary Svajda to reach his own first RG QF. Winner moves one step closer to the semi-finals and stays in title contention.

Can FAA turn history-making into trophy-lifting at Roland Garros?
