The Kano State Hisbah Command has arrested a suspected human trafficker attempting to transport 12 women from a motor park along Zaria Road, Kano, to Lagos.

Deputy Commander General of Hisbah, Sheikh Mujahideen Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, noting that the suspect, a native of Borno State, was intercepted by operatives led by the Officer in Charge of motor parks, Muhammad Bashir.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the women, all carrying international passports, were being trafficked with plans to move them from Lagos through Benin Republic and Ghana to Sierra Leone, before securing visas to Saudi Arabia for employment.

Aminuddeen disclosed that each victim had paid N1.5 million as an initial fee, with a promise to settle the balance once jobs were arranged abroad. The victims included a 50-year-old woman, two aged 23, two aged 20, and several teenagers around 15 years old.
