At least six girls, aged 15 to 17, were reportedly kidnapped by armed assailants during a violent attack in Pandogari Community, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
The invaders, who struck in the early hours of Wednesday, also killed a vigilante, Aliyu Aminu.
Local sources said the attackers infiltrated the community from Birnin Gwari, passing through Mamman Kontagora Technical College before abducting the girls and taking them to Kwangel Forest.
Residents reported that the bandits moved from house to house during the raid.
The attack was the third time the community has witnessed in a single week.
“In the past week, they had kidnapped several people, including the village head. This was their third raid,” a source disclosed.
Confirming the attack, Rafi LGA Chairman Ayuba Usman Katako urged collaboration between Niger and Kaduna state governments to strengthen security.
“These incidents are escalating. In this recent attack, eight people were taken, though four managed to escape,” he said.
During a session at the Niger State House of Assembly, Zubairu Isma’ila Zannan Kwangoma, representing Rafi Constituency, highlighted that within one month, terrorists had abducted 122 people and killed two in the LGA.
The most affected areas—Pandogari, Gidigori, Ringa, and Kawo—are grappling with economic hardship and agricultural devastation due to the ongoing attacks.
