A group, simply christened as The Hornet Group, with “no place for political scammers” as its motto, has issued a detailed riposte to media report about the alleged secret pact between Governor Kayode Fayemi and former governor Ayodele Fayose over the June governorship poll in the state.

The group’s response, doing the rounds on WhatsApp, is published hereunder.

“We are in a political season that demands apt responses to every attempt to hoodwink the people with bare-faced lies. Lere Olayinka and his wheeler-dealer boss deserve one for posterity.

“A voyage of discovery to unearth what Fayose is cooking is an unnecessary expedition because the truth is now officially in public.

“A petition submitted to the acting National Chairman of the APC by concerned party members has exposed a trade-off (deal) between Fayemi and Fayose.

“Read part of their petition:

“While our Governor (Fayemi) is aware that his chosen aspirant is politically weak and may not have the gravitas to substantially impress the people in the main election, he is, however, banking on a backend deal (long-sealed) with former Governor Ayo Fayose for a suicidal compromise.

“The plan is for Fayose (a man who can do anything for money) to secure the PDP ticket through a weak, controllable and pliable candidate to complete the trade-off. It is a shameful plot of “supply meets demand.”

“Let’s roll:

“Assuming these petitioners were lying, let’s go to the basis:

“1. Fayose (as a sitting Governor – with power of incumbency) fielded Eleka (his deputy with immunity and reasonable popularity) in 2018 and lost to Fayemi (with a commanding power from Abuja).

“2. Fayose, in 2021, asked individuals (in his Oshoko Assembly) interested in the governorship race to pay a N2m expression of interest fee. Six persons paid, including Eleka, Aribisala and others. A few weeks later, and after some strange meetings, Fayose made a vote-face, abandoned these caucus aspirants and settled for Bisi Kolawole (the state party chairman as of then) to the chagrin of everyone in OPA.

“Fayose neither refunded the money paid nor explained to the bewildered Bisi-K why he opted for him. He was told Bisi-K was interested in another aspirant outside of his circle. So, he decided to make the gentleman Bisi-K a pliable pawn. When PDP officially opened the race, Fayose also bought form for Deji Ogunsakin because of uncertainties (Fayose can not just dash PDP 21m. Think).

“3. Fayose is an experienced politician with native intelligence. He knows that it is a Herculean task for an opposition party without a base in Aso-Rock to win a governorship seat in an off-cycle election. Fayose abandoned Eleka (a former candidate defeated by Fayemi with less than 20,000 votes) to settle for an unwilling Bisi-K. How does Fayose with Bisi-K intend to defeat an incumbent APC in Ekiti with the support of Abuja? Bare in mind that Buhari and his boys in the security circle strongly detest Fayose.

Sen. Olujimi

“What are the benefit and game plans for Fayose? – Money and Leadership:

“1. He has a deal with Fayemi that is being oiled with a 10m monthly stipend. The main contract sum is in hundreds of millions. A walk-over PDP candidate.

“2. Make additional money from PDP Governors in the form of campaign contributions. He did the same in 2018 with Eleka and made money off him without his knowledge. Eleka got to know a few (weeks) later.

“3. Fayose wants to remain the PDP Leader in Ekiti without a Governor because the season of Presidential aspirants visiting and reaching out is coming. Pecuniary interest.

“4. The attempted hobnobbing with Tinubu did not yield the desired money target in the immediate. But lucky with Fayemi.

“The facts speak: Fayose is a known selfish and greedy politician; he has done two terms and now sees politics as a political Ponzi scheme.

“The plot against Olujimi:

“1. Fayose is not known to shy away from political theatrics: he is trying to exploit Olujimi’s likely discomfort with Oni – for saying he has no problem with Fayose’s Excos.

“2. But Fayose’s alleged romance with Olujimi may basically be a gimmick to re-enact his convention strategy (which got his excos list validated) and get her on his side before the January 3, 2022, PDP meeting. Fayose is aware that if Olujimi fails to reconcile with him, the party might consider several options – it has the constitutional powers to do so.

“3. Same Fayose camp once alleged that Olujimi enjoyed a secret arrangement with Fayemi which helped in the the judicial reversal that kicked Dayo Adeyeye out and gave the South Senatorial seat to Olujimi. It was an open secret that Fayemi was never comfortable with Adeyeye and his removal from the Senate was done to stop the oiling of his gubernatorial aspiration. Note that Fayose who denied Adeyeye the 2018 governorship ticket of the PDP, had also campaigned vigorously against Olujimi during the 2019 elections. What is Fayose really up to?

:4. Olujimi’s preservative South Agenda is understood. This is politics. She wanted the best for her zone. She has a reasonable prospect of becoming a major principal officer of the Senate in 2023 if PDP wins Ekiti and delivers the majority in the Senate. She is a woman respected by political leaders in Ekiti and the country, except Fayose – who robbed her in the last state congress. Her commitment to seeking justice cannot be diminished.

“Is Lere confused that Fayose can double-deal?
Wait for this:

“1. In his moment travails, Secondus had secured the support of Fayose and a former governor. He promised to address a press conference and help the Total Chair, but abandoned him mid-way and crawled back to Gov Wike (who is fully aware of his antics and chicanery). Everything is about pecuniary gain for Fayose.

Gov. Makinde and Secondus

“2. Did he not eat his vomit against Gov Makinde in a bid to get his Excos validated? While Makinde is unconcerned about his antics, has Fayose not started behaving strangely, including an open attack on the Governor during the Ekiti Expanded Meeting in Wadata?

“3. Lere himself is a pawn in Fayose’s merchandise politics. Someone of his status shouldn’t have fought to get 25,000 in the PDP Convention media committee WhatsApp. Lere deserves financial rehabilitation and needs to be free from Fayose.

“God has been kind to Dr Ayodele Fayose (Oshokomole), but his unkind politics will be his doom. Oshoko cannot dribble everyone forever. The day of reckoning is coming. It is nigh.”
