She reportedly yielded all of her totality to God through the Lord Jesus Christ in His vineyard.

And Jesus showed up for her, showered His favour upon her life. His grace upon her life was monumentally unprecedented.

A member of her family who testified on behalf of the family was the first to let the church into the uncommon grace that defined her eon.

Dr Alex Izinyon [SAN], who is head of the Adeyinka family by virtue of his marriage to Deaconness Adejoke’s late elder sister, reinforced the uncommon grace in his vote of thanks at the service of songs that took place at the Living Faith Church, Kuje, Abuja, where the late Adejoke was a deaconness.

It was Dr Izinyon’s exposition or explication that actually painted the enormity of the health condition from which Adejoke suffered but which she trumped by God’s grace..

He said that Adejoke and her husband were in Guinea Conakry where they were working for God as missionaries when a certain health challenge reared its head.

He said he was in England with his wife [Adejoke’s elder sister] twenty-three years ago when they received a call from Adejoke and her husband.

According to Izinyon, “We asked them to come over to England. We took her to The Manor Hospital, one of the best private hospitals, where she was diagnosed with a heart condition. She was given three years, maximum five years to live.

“I remember how my wife [her sister] was so worried for Adejoke. The pastor in his sermon spoke about the mystery of life. Looking back, my wife died [ten years] ago. My father-in-law, Adejoke’s husband and her younger brother died before her and she lived for twenty more years, beating all medical prognoses….”

This testimony was to define the tenor of the funeral service for her on Friday where visiting and resident pastors- T. Tomosori and Akintunde Ayodeji -eulogised Adejoke’s life of service in God’s vineyard and God’s recompense of twenty additional years- each year a product of grace.

Both preachers urged family, friends and parishioners who attended the service to shun works of the flesh, embrace works of righteousness, good works and most importantly the work of redemption.

They both posited that “We must embrace Christ’s work of redemption on the Cross otherwise all the other works will be useless.”

At the service of song, while speaking on “The mystery of life”, Pastor Ayodeji said life was a school.

“Our papa, Pastor David Oyedepo, keeps saying that the day you stop learning is the day you start dying.”

He said “death is sure. Yours is coming.”

While he emphasised that “life is a gift from God”, he underscored the Biblical injunction that enjoined us to number our days so we could apply our hearts unto wisdom.

“Life is a privilege and a man and woman of understanding will be conscious of every moment of life,” he said.

“What will you be remembered for? Life is a seed. Make it a good seed so that it will answer for you in eternity.

“Life is a transition.Whatever you do in life will always follow you. Where will you spend your eternity? Eternity with God or eternity in hell?”

At the interment at Gudu Cemetary in Abuja, tears flowed freely as children, family members and friends bade Deaconess Adejoke farewell.

Among those who attended the funeral service were Damian Dodo [SAN], Major General Christopher Jemitola [Retd] [ADC to former President Olusegun Obasanjo], Mr Kola Ologbondiyan [former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party], and Mr Dan Akpovwa [Publisher of Abuja Enquirer], among others.
