Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has expressed sadness over the demise of veteran journalist Malam Shehu Saulawa of the Radio France International (RFI), who passed on Monday in Bauchi after a protracted illness.
The governor expressed his sadness in a message of condolence message signed by Alhaji Ismaila Misili, Director Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, and made available to newsmen in Gombe on Tuesday,.
He described the late international journalist as a “highly resourceful media practitioner” who demonstrated professionalism and capacity during his stint at various media organisations, including the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
He noted that Saulawa’s death will leave a huge hole in the spectrum of the journalism profession, not only in northern Nigeria but nationally and internationally.
“On behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, I conveyed our deepest condolences to the immediate family of the deceased.
“Also to his professional colleagues as well as the management and staff of RFI over the great loss, I prayed Almighty Allah to grant him paradise,” the governor said. (NAN)
