Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, will chair a high-profile colloquium on Monday, March 24th, to mark the 60th birthday celebration of former governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, CON.
The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, will deliver the keynote address at the event, with the theme: “Is Democracy Failing in Africa?”
Former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and other personalities will also be in attendance.
Their participation underscores the significance of the discourse on democracy, governance, and leadership in Africa.
With a wealth of experience in governance and statesmanship, President Obasanjo’s presence at the event highlights the importance of the discussion, especially given the increasing challenges facing democratic institutions in the country and on the continent.
A statement by the Media and Publicity Committee of the anniversary said: “His insights and leadership will provide valuable perspectives on the future of democracy in Africa and the role of governance in sustaining stability and development.”
The event will be held at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Intercontinental Hotel.
