Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has re-affirmed his commitment to alleviate the the people’s hardship by continuing to invest in the l State’s health sector.
The Governor stated this at the flag off of the second edition of Imole free surgical and medical outreach designed to hold in two centres in each of the three senatorial districts of Osun State held at General Hospital, Ilesa.
While disclosing that the Government has provided adequate medication for the exercise, the governor also promised to provide reading glasses for those who require such in order to reduce their economic burden.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Health, Barr Jola Akintola stated that the health sector is one of the five points agenda of Mr Governor, disclosing that this edition of Imole surgical and medical outreach will benefit over two thousand five hundred persons in each center of the three senatorial districts of the State on weekly basis, while the exercise will take place for two days.
Barr. Akintola stressed further that the programme, which will be coordinated by Osun State University Teaching Hospital, led by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof Peter Babatunde Olaitan, will be carrying out various surgical operations on Osun residents suffering from cataract, pterygium , Hernia, Hydrocele, lipoma, keloid and some swollen body while other health challenges like hypertension, diabetes, malaria, cough, Tuberculosis and other disease will also be treated free of charge by the medical team.
The Commissioner then urged the beneficiaries to conduct themselves in an orderly manner and assured that all the patients on queue shall be attended to
Present at the event were the Deputy Governor, Prince kola Adewusi ; State PDP Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi; Special Adviser to Mr Governor, Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr, Oderinde Michael; Chairman, Hospital Management Board, Dr. K.K Akinrinoye; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Isiaka Adekunle; Permanent Secretary, HMB, Dr. Abayomi Oni; CMD, Uniosun, Prof Peter Babatunde, Barrister Niyi Owolade, Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Board, Oluwole Fabiyi and other political functionaries among others.
