The family of late comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has received ₦7.5 million in donations following an emotional public appeal over unpaid rent, school fees, and poor living conditions.

The update was shared on Friday, June 26, 2026, by content creator King Mitchy on Instagram, two days after she posted a video of Mr Ibu’s widow and children begging for help.

“First of all, I sincerely want to thank everyone who donated. Together, we were able to raise ₦7.5 million for the family. God bless every single one of you,” Mitchy wrote.

According to her, the funds will be used to pay the children’s school fees, including the eldest daughter’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, fees, and to settle the family’s rent.
