A crucial Technical Procurement Workshop, themed “Ask the Experts Technical Session,” is set to take place at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites on Thursday, May 30, 2024. This event aims to lead global excellence in procurement and supply, gathering key stakeholders from various sectors.

Alan Martin, Head of the Procurement Excellence Programme at CIPS, will open the session with welcome remarks. Esteemed guests, including the Honourable Minister for Health & Social Welfare and representatives from BMGF, DG-BPP, DFDS, NAFDAC, PCN, WHO, World Bank, and various states, will deliver goodwill messages, highlighting collective support for advancing procurement excellence.

Julius Oni, a CIPS Procurement Expert, will present an overview of the pooled procurement mechanism, covering its concept from global, national, and sub-national perspectives. Adebowale Adedokun, Director of Planning, Research, and Strategic Planning at BPP, will discuss the enablers of pooled procurement within the Nigerian context. Mirabel Okafor and Zachary Kariuki, also CIPS Procurement Experts, will share practical strategies for implementing pooled procurement, including a case study.

Mansur Halidu and Adams Hayatuddeen, senior procurement officials from Kaduna and Nasarawa States, will share their experiences and lessons learned in implementing pooled procurement.

A panel discussion will delve into diverse perspectives on pooled procurement practices and capacity-building strategies. Experts from CIPS, BPP, NPSCMPFMoH, PMGMAN, ARC-ESM, and state representatives will participate. Irobodu J. Omokhapue, CIPS HPA National Procurement Specialist, will summarize the day’s key takeaways and deliver a call to action.
