Gbenga Daniel becomes Ogun East Senator-elect



Otunba Gbenga Daniel, a former Governor of Ogun State, has won the Ogun East Senatorial election held on Saturday.

Daniel, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 115,147 votes to defeat other candidates in the contest for the seat.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s Returning Officer, Prof. Christopher Onwuka announced the results.

Daniel won in all the nine Local Government Areas of Ogun East, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which came second with 58,708 votes and the Labour Party that had 13,061 votes.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 1,716 votes, Social Democratic Party (SDP) got 1,151 votes while Allied Peoples Movement (APM) had 85 7 votes.
