Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former Kano state governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described the immediate-past Kano governor, Abdullahi Ganduje as his“ political boy.”

Kwankwaso stated this in an interview with BBC Hausa, while calling the bluff of Ganduje, his successor, who said he (Ganduje) would have slapped him (Kwankwaso) if he had met him face-to-face at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, Friday.

Ganduje was in the Villa to report Kwankwaso to President Bola Tinubu over the demolition of property going on in Kano State.

Kwankwaso, too, was in the Villa at the same time as Ganduje, but they did not get to meet.

“I know that he (Kwankwaso) is in the building. But we did not meet inside. I would have slapped him if I met him inside,” Ganduje told journalists, describing the demolitions in Kano carried out by Governor Abba Yusuf as “illegal”, calling the governor a stooge of Kwankwaso.

However, speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa on early Saturday morning, Kwankwaso described Ganduje as one of his political boys who could not even look at him straight on the face let alone dare raise a finger against him.

“I heard that he (Ganduje) said he would’ve slapped me, but I’m here. He was just confused. These are all my boys politically. They can’t even look at me straight on the face if we meet. He was in a confused state when he said that, these my political boys if they see me they lower their gaze,” Kwankwaso said.

Kwankwaso told BBC Hausa that he met with President Bola Tinubu for about 2 hours at the Presidential Villa, Abuja and was able to convince him on the alleged land deals and other infractions of the Ganduje administration in Kano state.

Ganduje served as Kwankwaso’s deputy from 1999 – 2003 and 2011 – 2015, when the latter was governor of Kano State. He (Ganduje) later succeeded Kwankwaso as governor of Kano from 2015 – 2023. (BBC/Metrowatch)
