Former women affairs minister, Jummai Al-Hassan, is dead

A former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, popularly called “Mama Taraba” is dead.

Feelers said she died on Friday evening in an Egyptian hospital from a protracted illness.

She was minister of women affairs in President Buhari’s cabinet from 2015 before decamping to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after she was disqualified by the All Progressives Congress from seeking the governorship ticket of the party in Taraba.

She had gone ahead to support former vice president Atiku Abubakar’s bid for the presidential seat.

Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, was born on the 16th of September 1959 in Jalingo, Taraba State.

She resigned as the Minister of Women Affairs of Nigeria on July 27, 2018.
