Kingsley O. Ehigiamos, former Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor of Edo State, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In his resignation letter, Ehigiamos expressed deep disappointment with the current state of the PDP, citing a significant decline in party politics and governance since the 2020 elections.
He lamented the party’s transformation into a government agency, the suppression of dissent, and the recent impeachment of Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, which he described as “ill-advised, uncalled for, and most unwarranted.”
Ehigiamos, who served as the PDP Local Government Area Collation Agent during the 2020 elections, played a pivotal role in securing a second term for Governor Godwin Obaseki.
He also held key positions from 2016 to 2024, including Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor.
Expressing gratitude to Governor Obaseki and Deputy Governor Shaibu, Ehigiamos concluded that he could no longer be part of a party that stifles opposition and harbors internal conflicts.
He conveyed his best wishes to the party members in his departure note.
