A former Commissioner in Edo State, Mr Charles Idahosa, has died at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of service to the State and humanity.
In a swift reaction, a former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Roland Owie paid glowing tributes to the memory of the late Charles Idahosa.
Read his condolence message published here under in extenso:
“It is with profound sorrow, tempered only by faith in the Resurrection, that I mourn the passing of my beloved younger brother and distinguished scion of the illustrious Akakasiaka Dynasty, Honourable Charles Idahosa, JP, who joined his ancestors on Saturday, 20 December 2025, at the age of 72.
“On behalf of the entire Owie family, I pay tribute to a bold, courageous, astute, and forthright son of Edo State, whose life of service was forged in conviction and sustained by an indestructible faith in the unity, greatness, and divinely ordained destiny of our dear State within the Nigerian federation. He followed, with distinction, in the noble footsteps of our patriarch, the inimitable Chief Idahosa (Akakasiaka), who stood in loco parentis to me and served with uncommon devotion as Chairman of the Orhionmwon Local Government Chapter of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) during the Second Republic (1979–1983), while I represented Orhionmwon Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
“Across a sterling and prolific career spanning journalism, strategic communications, and politics, Honourable Idahosa’s record was marked by intellectual rigour, moral clarity, and an unblemished commitment to public service.
“He served Edo State and Nigeria with honour—as Special Adviser and Honourable Commissioner in the administration of His Excellency Governor Lucky Igbinedion; as Political Adviser to His Excellency Governor Adams Oshiomhole; as a member of the Governing Board of the Nigerian Railway Corporation; and through many other consequential political engagements that enriched our public life.
I extend my deepest condolences to his amiable wife and beloved children. May the Almighty God console, strengthen, and protect them in this season of grief. I commend the gentle soul of our dear brother to the maternal intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary: may she envelop him in her Blue Mantle, and pray that his soul may find peaceful repose in the Lord.”
