A move to suspend Rt. Hon. Eseme Eyiboh from the APC in Ward 9, Esit Eket, Akwa Ibom State, has unravelled into forgery allegations and legal threats, exposing deep fractures in the party’s local ranks.
Prophet Edet Ben, an Ex-Officio member of the ward, has sworn in an affidavit before the Uyo High Court that no disciplinary meeting held on April 22, 2026.

He denied attending or endorsing any proceedings against Eyiboh, Special Adviser to the Senate President on Media and Publicity.
Ben said his name and signature were forged on an attendance list tied to the “suspension” and disowned a related letter sent to chapter and state APC leaders.

In a separate notice, he demanded the immediate removal of his name, a public retraction, and a halt to further use of his identity — warning of legal action if ignored within 24 hours.
The disputed suspension, pushed by a ward faction, accused Eyiboh of anti-party activity.

Critics call the charge absurd, noting Eyiboh recently mobilised grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno.
Grassroots group Ward Nine New Era (WNNE) branded the suspension “malicious, baseless, and void.” It questioned why Eyiboh was singled out when other leaders who attended the same community stakeholders’ endorsement meeting were untouched.
WNNE listed those present: former NDDC MD Sir Bassey Dan-Abia; former Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Bassey Essien; ex-lawmaker Hon. Dr. Usoro Akpan-Uso; former Women Affairs Commissioner Dr. Ini Adiakpan, now Delivery Advisor to the Governor; and others.

“Due process was not followed,” WNNE said, urging members to disregard the action.
Political observers called the episode a “self-defeating contradiction” — penalising pro-party mobilisation as anti-party conduct. They argue it exposes internal inconsistencies and damages the credibility of the suspension’s backers.
What began as a disciplinary claim is now a legal and political liability. With forgery allegations, denial of due process, and growing dissent, the attempt to oust Eyiboh is backfiring on its promoters.
