Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has dismissed as fake a “Letter of Withdrawal” circulating online, calling it a clumsy forgery meant to knock him out of the 2027 Edo South Senate race.
“The letter is false, misleading, and poorly doctored,” his Media Directorate said Tuesday, stressing that “Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has not withdrawn. He remains in the race.”
The campaign says the document is a recycled version of Ize-Iyamu’s 2024 letter stepping down from the Edo governorship contest to back Governor Monday Okpebholo for “party unity and equity.” This time, the dates and context were altered and passed off as a 2027 senatorial exit.
“This is mischievous, deceptive, and intended to create confusion within the political space,” the statement read.
Ize-Iyamu’s team insists he’s still deep in consultations across Edo South and will contest a “free, fair, and credible primary” under the APC banner.
They urged party faithful and the public to ignore the fake letter and rely only on verified channels for updates.
“This act of political misinformation will not deter the resolve to continue engaging stakeholders,” the campaign said. “It only highlights the strength and rising support of his candidacy, which evidently unsettles some interests.”

Bottom line from the Ize-Iyamu camp: The letter was forged. The bid isn’t.
