The Federal Government is deepening collaboration with Nigeria’s creative industry to advance security awareness, public enlightenment, and national unity, with the Ministry of Interior describing actors, filmmakers and content creators as critical partners in shaping public opinion.
Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made this known on Friday during a courtesy visit by the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, and members of his delegation to his office in Abuja.
Tunji-Ojo said government institutions must work with the entertainment sector to strengthen advocacy, improve understanding of public policies, and push back against misinformation. He congratulated Rollas on his re-election and praised his leadership for positioning the creative industry as a platform for positive social change.
According to the minister, the government intends to use the reach of entertainers and content creators to promote patriotism, responsible citizenship and social cohesion. He noted that collaboration would also support ongoing reforms within agencies under the ministry.
Highlighting progress in the correctional system, Tunji-Ojo said deliberate investment in rehabilitation, vocational training, education and skills acquisition had reduced recidivism sharply. He stated that the number of repeat offenders fell from about 13,000 in 2023 to roughly 1,000 in 2025.
“Our correctional centres are increasingly becoming truly correctional, rehabilitative and transformational institutions,” he said.
The minister also cited reforms in passport issuance, immigration services, fire safety and civil defence operations as part of efforts to address longstanding service delivery challenges.
“Leadership is about confronting challenges and solving problems. We do not see obstacles; we see opportunities for solutions and progress,” he added. While acknowledging that challenges remain, Tunji-Ojo said measurable progress had been recorded and urged Nigerians to embrace collective responsibility.

In his remarks, Rollas commended the government’s security and development efforts and pledged the industry’s support through the Creative Entertainment Group for Good Governance Initiative, CEGGI. He said stakeholders were already being mobilized to amplify messages of peace, unity and responsible citizenship.
Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration to advance national development and increase public participation in building a safer Nigeria.
