He highlighted the importance of innovation, good governance, and sustainability in transforming polytechnic education.

The government has also approved a special intervention fund to upgrade polytechnic engineering schools with state-of-the-art equipment.

Polytechnics will now be able to award degrees, elevating their status and attracting stronger industry partnerships and funding opportunities.

The policy prioritises Technical and Vocational Education and Training, aiming to create a skills-driven economy and bridge the gap between academia and industry.

Polytechnics are expected to entrench innovation through entrepreneurship centers, research hubs, and strong industry linkages.

The government emphasises the importance of transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline in polytechnic administration, as well as sustainability through internally generated revenue and eco-friendly practices.

The Minister assured stakeholders that the transition would be guided by clear standards, strong regulation, and robust quality assurance mechanisms to ensure global competitiveness.

He urged polytechnic leaders to take advantage of the new policy and work towards producing industry-ready graduates who can drive economic growth and national development.
